MDF letters
All kinds of MDF and other materials can be utilised to make your letters
MDF based letters can be machined as well as all other
material type lettering.We use a range of quality MDF based panels to produce
sign and display
lettering and logos.
If you require MDF letters our basic level material is MR (moisture resistant). Depending on the thickness this material is either Green tinted throughout or has a Green tint with buff coloured front and back faces.
We have switched to manufacturing our MDF letters in this material because it offers more for the same price. With MR MDF letters you get more resistance to water- the number one reason for MDF failure.
With MR MDF letters you get a product that needs less finishing. Standard MDF letters have a fair amount of fuzz on the cut edges. This is a characteristic of basic MDF and can be greatly reduced by using MR grade MDf which has a higher resin content.
Can you have MDF cut for uses other than sign and display work?
Our CNC machinery can cut MDF into almost any shape you could want.
We can also produce fret cut screens
,
furniture parts or anything else that needs precisely cut MDF
components.

MDF lettering- what thicknesses can you have?
We can machine MDF letters in all the popular sheet thicknesses; 3, 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18mm.
If you want a chunkier MDF letter we can also provide 25, 30 and 60mm thick MDF sheets from which we can machine your lettering and logos.
Traditional Plywoods
You can choose from WPB or Marine grade plywood letters. Cut from your master design file these letters will be a faithful recreation in wood.
You could also choose to have a complete fascia set made from plywood. This would include the panels which could be cut to any shape and size complete with a set of matching plywood letters.
By using the best quality plywood we can ensure you get a really effective and durable product.
MDF letters
Letters can be machined from all grades and thicknesses of MDF. For internal work you can have any thickness of internal grade MDF for letters which are cheap and easy to finish.
For exterior work use exterior grade MDF letters which, when correctly painted is a very effective material.
Again, we can supply you with panels as well as letters.
New suppliers of MDF materials have allowed us to offer you thicknesses far in excess of the traditional 25mm limit.
It is perfectly possible to have 60mm thick MDF letters, logos or panels. If your design demands super thick results there is no reason why you can't deliver a great result.
Real wood
For some applications real wood is required. In these instances we take premium grade prepared pine timbers and glue them up into wide boards.
These boards are then surfaced to get a level, even finish.
Once this has been completed we then cut your letters from the prepared boards.
The fixings used to hold the boards together are natural beech biscuits so the overall effect of real wood is retained.
Colour core MDF material
We can supply you with timber letters manufactured from colour core MDF. This material is dyed during the manufacturing process giving solid colour all the way through.
Colour core MDF material is perfect for use with our CNC routing systems and creates stylish effects.
For the best finish we recommend that colour core MDF is lacquered with a clear varnish- this lifts the base matte finish and gives the material a high gloss shine. This material makes really great MDF letters.
